Voices United Against BSL Travelling Banner Campaign Ends

2016-08-26-antibsl-klassen-1.jpg;w=630The Voices United Against BSL Travelling Banner is on the move through Ontario.

The banner made its debut in Toronto on July 16, 2016. From Toronto the banner headed east to Ottawa. The group Ottawa Citizens Against Breed Specific Legislation/BSL hosted a banner signing on July 27 and then the banner headed north to Sault Ste. Marie. We received some excellent news coverage at the Soo event on August 26, hosted by the Hershey Anti-BSL Group Northern Chapter. Read about it here.

On Saturday, September 24, 2016 the banner made its debut in Thunder Bay at the annual fundraiser in support of New Hope Dog Rescue *Thunder Bay*. Thanks to Jennifer Waite for organizing and New Hope for hosting the travelling banner.

On October 16, 2016, the banner stopped in at the T.E.A.M. Dog Rescue fundraiser in Trinity Bellwoods Park, Toronto. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers and supporters who made this day a success.

On National “Pit Bull” Awareness Day (Saturday, October 22, 2016), the banner spent the day at the Barkside Bistro, Toronto.  Thanks to everyone who stopped in to add their signature.

On Saturday, November 5, the travelling banner was in St. Catharines. So many people stepped up to the plate to organize and volunteer their services in a number of capacities to help make the day a success. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come down and sign the travelling banner. Thank you to KJ Avril and Pet Value, Pendale Plaza for hosting this very successful event. Thank you also to Bobbie Langlois, Sheri Cachia, Therapy Tails and Niagara Dog Rescue.

On Sunday, December 11, 2016 the Voices United Against BSL Travelling Banner made a quick stop to visit the wonderful volunteers at Organization for the Rescue of Animals (ORA). ORA has approximately 100 animals in their care and were raising funds through photos with Santa.

Stay tuned in 2017 for future banner signing events in your community.

Can’t get to the banner? No problem! You can create your own personal anti-BSL message or one on behalf of your family (furry and non-fury), organization, group or business. Unleash your inner artist to create a fabric “quilting” square. Start with a piece of fabric, cut and hem all four sides. The fabric square should measure 12×12 inches. You now have a blank canvas with which to work your magic. The colour and type of fabric is up to you. Once completed, mail your anti-BSL “quilting” square to us. Please private message us for the address. We will then sew the squares to the main Voices United Against BSL banner. The banner, once completed, will make its way back to Queen’s Park, Toronto, where it is hoped Premier Kathleen Wynne will come to her senses.
