The cost of BSL in Ontario is now estimated to be in the hundreds of millions. Unlike what Calgary has done with no BSL dog bites across Ontario have not decreased.
On August 29th, 2010 at Toronto's Coronation park, over 700 animal advocates attended an anti BSL rally to support the second "Hershey's Bill" Bill 16 again tabled by MPP Cheri DiNovo. A candlelight vigil was later held at Queens Park for the hundreds of good non-offending dogs killed due only to what they looked like.
Alix Pearson speaks to Cathy Protho of the Dog Legislation Council of Canada regarding Hershey's tri-party PM Bill 16 in 2012. The bill passed 2nd reading handsomely and went to committee meetings. All testimonies favoured the removal of the Ontario breed ban. In the end the bill was never called for third and final reading and eventually fell to governments prorogation.
